Great Plains Catalysis Society 2024 Award to Bala Subramaniam
Prof. Bala Subramaniam was honored by the Great Plains Catalysis Society as the recipient of the organization's 2024 GPCS Award. The group noted Bala's discoveries in metal-incorporated mesoporous silicates with tunable acidity, and harnessing tunable media to influence rates and selectivity in multiphase catalysis. Noted inventions included technologies to reduce the carbon footprint of chemical processes used in making plastics, pharmaceuticals, detergents, adhesives, and other everyday products.
At the GPCS 2024 Fall Symposium in Norman, Oklahoma, Bala gave a plenary lecture, "Net Zero Transition: Challenges and Opportunities for Sustainable Catalysis."
Bala is a founding board member of the Great Plains Catalysis Society, dedicating his service to the society. He served as GPCS president in 2021.
