Green hydrogen is made from renewable electricity and water. Avium technology has the potential to dramatically improve the economics for green hydrogen production. This will enable the rapid introduction of green hydrogen to the supply chain for use in vehicles, industry and electrical power grids.

Urban TEC delivers Science, Technology, Engineering,
Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) lab activities that provide hands-on engaging activities for middle and high school students. Programs include Artificial Intelligence, Drones, Virtual Reality, and eSports. For adult learners, Urban TEC offers workforce development training towards certifications in careers such as cybersecurity, networking, and Microsoft Office.

Avium Summer Experience @ KU

Avium Summer Experience (ASE) Program Details

  • ASE is a 3-day residential camp where students will rotate between the three partner sites (Avium, Peaslee Tech, and KU CEBC) in Lawrence, KS.
  • Each day, students will participate in hands-on science and engineering activities and learn about available programs at the 3 partners.
  • Participants will receive a $500 stipend and travel reimbursement within 100 miles from Lawrence Kansas. Meals and housing will be covered by KU during from June 1-4, 2025. 
  • Get a jump start on your future education and/or career with ASE! 

 

The program in Summer 2025 will be held: June 1-4, 2025

Rising 11th and 12th grade high school students (Summer 2025 cohort will include the graduating classes of 2026 and 2027) who live less than 100 miles from the University of Kansas and who have an interest in engineering, chemistry, machinery, robotics, and/or sustainability. Students who are not sure what they want to do after high school (workforce, vocational school, or college), are particularly encouraged to apply.  

You will need to write a ~250 word essay explaining the student's interests in the ASE program and how participating will help you achieve your goals, along with basic contact information. Parents/ Guardians and student participants will need to review the KU Campus Policy Regarding Minors on Campus and complete and sign the Waiver and Release Form (required) and Photo Release (optional) and upload to the application portal. A Waiver and Release Form is required prior to acceptance to the ASE Program.

Applications are due February 15, 2025. Selected students will be notified of their selection by March 15, 2025.
